Bandung Zoo Tidak Buka Selama Lebaran 2026, Wali Kota Donasikan Rp1 Juta

The closure results from the absence of an officially appointed manager following the expiration of the previous conservation permit, leaving the zoo without operational authority.

The mayor discussed the situation during a visit to the zoo on March 20, where he provided financial assistance to workers. Many of these employees have not received their wages since February due to pending approval of funds from the Bandung city government. Farhan assured that disbursement could occur by April, contingent upon the finalization of agreements. In a show of support, the National Amil Zakat Agency distributed Rp1 million to each worker.

Despite operational challenges, zoo staff continue to care for the animals’ health under the supervision of the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency. Unfortunately, the zoo will remain closed to the public throughout the holiday period. Farhan aims to finalize the appointment of a new manager by the end of April, with hope for the zoo’s reopening and operational activities to recommence in May.

Potential managers must qualify as legally recognized conservation entities with necessary permits from the Ministry of Forestry. The selection process will also ensure that existing staff are retained and that traditional elements, especially those reflecting Sundanese culture, are preserved.

In light of the zoo’s closure, Farhan suggested the public visit Ir. H. Djuanda Forest Park for recreational activities, although it will only open on the second day of Lebaran. Other attractions in Bandung will operate at limited capacity during this time, with some areas still inaccessible.
